BANCO DE CREDITO BALEAR

Profile

This bank was founded on February 9, 1872 as El Crédito Balear and in
1874 after merging with Banco Balear the name was changed to Crédito
Balear. In 1893 and 1895 the bank merged with Banco Mallorquín and
Cambio Mallorquín respectively. On June 15, 1967 the name was again
changed to Banco de Crédito Balear. In the Balearic Islands it is known
as Es Crédit.

The bank began to work closely with the Banco Popular Español Group
in 1966, becoming one of its subsidiaries at the end of the 1960s
