Green bonds are the best-known face of sustainability in the Fixed Income markets, but they are not the only instruments available to investors in this field. Green bonds, those that are earmarked to projects related to environmental protection, are included in the category of bonds with ESG (Environmental, Social and Corporate Governance) criteria.
Spain remains in the top 10 largest issuers of bonds with ESG criteria, above the position that would correspond to it based on its GDP. Sustainable financing in Spain in 2022 reached a record €60,134 million, up 9% on the previous year, according to OFISO's annual report.
A historic milestone was achieved in 2021, with sustainable fixed income issuance reaching $1 trillion globally for the first time.
