BME Scaleup celebrates its first anniversary as a marketplace for scale up companies

In the last 12 months, 11 companies have decided to list on BME Scaleup, benefiting from the advantages of transparency provided by being a listed issuer, but with simplified listing requirements tailored to the profile of this type of company.

One year ago today, BME Scaleup was presented to the financial community as the first step on the capital markets financing ladder.  BME entered fully into an ecosystem previously reserved for private equity (venture capital, business angels and participatory financing platforms) with the confidence of being complementary and being able to provide value to all participants.

BME Scaleup is mainly aimed at so-called scale-ups, i.e. companies with a proven business model, in an accelerated growth phase for at least three years, with a minimum turnover of one million euros and/or an investment of at least that amount, but it is also open to other types of companies such as SMEs, SOCIMIs or family businesses seeking a first contact with the capital markets. In fact, SOCIMIs were the first to decide to benefit from the advantages of being listed on BME Scaleup.

Alfil was the first incorporation, followed by Solvento also in March 2024. Residenza, a company of the Pryconsa group joined in May. And in June and early July we welcomed Nordeste Properties, and 6 Socimis of Inbest.

Earlier today, the incorporations committee approved the favourable report for the entry of ByteTravel, the first technology company with an innovative and dynamic profile to trade on BME Scaleup.

Among the requirements to be part of this market are: to be a public limited company, to have a board of directors, to be accompanied by a registered advisor in the market and to publish audited annual accounts. It will not be necessary to have a liquidity provider or to meet a minimum free float requirement.

There are already 14 BME Scaleup Registered Advisors, who assess the suitability of companies and coordinate the incorporation process. The figure of the Registered Advisor is key to the development of this market, as each company must have one whose functions include, among others, checking and assisting the company in complying with the listing requirements, reviewing the information submitted by the company at the time of listing and thereafter, as well as being available to the market to answer questions about the issuer, activity and compliance.

BME Scaleup is aimed at specialised investors with sufficient knowledge of capital markets and who are aware of the higher risk involved in investing in these types of companies.
