This competition is an educational tool that allows participants to learn in a nearly real environment, providing experience and confidence for future stock market investors. Contestants create a portfolio by selecting companies listed on the Spanish market, starting with a fictitious initial capital. During the four weeks of the competition, they must rotate their portfolio by buying and selling virtually, while learning to invest through the training sessions of the BME Institute. All information about the listed companies is available on the BME Exchange website, and real-time prices are provided by Six Financial Information.
The awards ceremony took place on November 25th in León during the Andbank Annual Strategy Conference. Ignacio López Menéndez, representing BME, highlighted the company’s commitment to initiatives that promote financial literacy and bring stock market operations closer to small investors. “At BME, we remain committed to developing initiatives that foster financial literacy, bring stock market operations closer to small investors, and provide visibility and knowledge about the businesses of listed Spanish companies and the investment opportunities they offer,” said López Menéndez.
Each year, student participation increases thanks to teachers who see the Stock Market Competition as an opportunity to enhance their knowledge in a practical and realistic way. This competition helps them better understand the functioning of the capital market and the work of professionals in the financial world.
