The BME Management Committee has a fundamental function: it is responsible for the ongoing management and coordination of the company’s various business areas and activities. In addition, it supervises the companies that are part of it.

CEO and Head BME Exchanges
Juan Flames holds a Bachelor’s degree in Law and Business Administration (E-3) from the Universidad Pontificia de Comillas (ICADE) in Madrid. Formerly, he was Vice Chairman of Capital Markets at Barclays Bank Europe and held various positions in the Capital Markets and Investment Banking areas at Barclays Bank in both the United Kingdom and Spain. In addition, he has an outstanding track record of more than a decade at Goldman Sachs in London.

Head Derivatives
Bachelor in Economic and Business Administration (Universidad Autónoma de Madrid) and Master’s in finance at CUNEF. Clotilde joined MEFF in 1994 and between 2012 and 2014 she was Market Director at MEFF. She is the General Manager of MEFF since 2014 and since January 2021, a member of the Management Committee of BXS (Exchange Business unit of SIX). She is responsible for the Derivatives area.

Director of Market Data
He holds a degree in Economics and Business Administration, a Master's Degree in Small and Medium Enterprise Management and a Diploma of Advanced Studies in Econometrics and Quantitative Methods from the University of Santiago de Compostela. He joined BME in 2000. Between 2000 and 2009, he was Deputy Secretary General of the European Capital Markets Institute (ECMI) and Director of BME Consulting. Deputy Director of International Relations at BME between 2008 and 2019. He is currently General Manager of BME Market Data and Head of Co-location and Market Access at SIX.

Clearing
José Manuel Ortiz-Repiso holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economic Sciences from Universidad CEU San Pablo. He has a Master’s degree in Business Administration from Instituto de Empresa (IE Business School). He joined BME in 2000 and between 2003 and 2013, he was supervisor of the Spanish Equities Market and Head of Market Quality at BME Equity. Between 2013 and 2016, he was the project manager for the creation of the information system (PTI). He leads the Clearing unit at SIX.

Settlement and Registry
Jesús Benito holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the Complutense University of Madrid. He is the CEO of Iberclear. He is also chairman of REGIS-TR. Additionally, he has chaired the T2S CSDs Steering Group (CSG) since its inception in 2012. He has been active in several industry working groups organized by the European Commission and ESMA. He is a member of the ECSDA Board of Directors and Executive Committee. From 1988 to 2000, he worked for the Bank of Spain. He manages the domestic custody and trade repositories unit at SIX.

Value Added Services
Berta Ares is a graduate of the Escuela Técnica Superior de Ingenieros de Telecomunicación of Universidad Politécnica de Madrid and holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration International Executive from La Salle. She joined BME in March 2000 and has since worked for Visual Trader and Iberclear. In 2014, she was appointed Head of BME’s Project Management Office, Managing Director of BME Inntech and Head of the Program & Innovation Office at SIX.

Legal Affairs
Ignacio Olivares holds a law degree from the Complutense University of Madrid and a Master’s degree in Public Law. He has worked for BME Group since 1993. He is currently Deputy Secretary of the Board of Directors of the Madrid Stock Exchange, Secretary of the Board of Directors of BME Sistemas de Negociación and Secretary of the Risk Committee and the Security Committee of BME. In addition, he serves as Head of the Regulatory unit.

Corporate Communications & Public Affairs
Pablo Malumbres holds a law degree from the Complutense University of Madrid and a Master’s degree in International Relations from the University of Paris VI. He is the Director of Corporate Communications at BME. He joined the company in 2001 as Head of Media Relations for the Madrid Stock Exchange. Prior to joining BME, he worked for four years as a consultant in different areas of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in Paris. He is also Head Marketing Securities Services at SIX.

Chief Financial Officer
She holds a degree in Business Administration, specializing in Finance, from CUNEF University and an Executive MBA degree from Instituto de Empresa. She worked as the Comptroller of BME Group since 2003 and was actively involved in the company’s IPO in 2006. In 1999, she joined SENAF and moved as CFO to MF Holding, which comprised MEFF, AIAF and SENAF. Prior to this, she worked at Deloitte.

Human Resources
Luisa Martínez has more than 20 years of experience in HR and sustainability management. She has been HR director in companies in the industrial sector, most notably managing Europe and India at LM Windpower. She has served as Director of Human Resources and Sustainability at Quironsalud and Vithas Hospitals. With a degree in Political Science and Sociology from the Complutense University, she has completed postgraduate programs at IE, Esade and IESE, as well as a HR digitalization program at the Valley Digital Business School. She is a holder of the Diploma for Professional Advisors from IC-A.

IT
Arturo Merino holds a degree in Telecommunications Engineering from Universidad Europea de Madrid and a Master’s degree in Quantitative Finance from Afi (Analistas Financieros Internacionales). He joined BME in 2019 as a deputy to the IT management. Prior to that, he was CIO of MoraBanc for three years, and previously a Managing Director at Accenture, a consulting firm where he spent 15 years developing his professional career in the Capital Markets area.
